Hola mi hijo, A pues, the adveture continues. We are glad you are home and safe.
I heard a little bit about goings on in Guatemala and the election coming up. Things are heating up!
I heard this on Pacifica radio which is produced in San Francisco or Berkeley, I forget which. They have a Monday half hour show on Central and South America. Imagine, news about El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Nicaraugua!
Dear Nephew and Roni, too. So sorry I did not get the link to this blog prior to your trip. I heard that you were going but was expecting group email like the SE Asia trip. I have just soaked up your adventures via photos and words. How FABULOUS! I have been to Guatemala once, with the Air Force, many years ago. We flew into Guat City, which was in the middle of a HUGE celebration. So we rattled across the mountains for an hour and a half in a "chicken van", (the door was held shut with a wire coat hangar hooked to the opposite side of the van), to our accommodations, a beautiful resort that was actually part of the RCI system I discovered when I arrived back in Colorado! I had a bit of time to wander in the AM, found a post office to mail a postcard to my Dad, the stamp collector, and discovered an open air market, much like the one the two of you visited. I also happened by a school and enjoyed seeing the children play in their well cared for uniforms, jump rope, ball, etc. My only day in Guatemala was very memorable, leaving me with the desire to return. Your trip has renewed the desire. Pam is itching to return to Costa Rica, a country where I have not yet visited. It is also on the list of things to do before we die. Happy belated birthday, Roni. Much love, Aunt Jan, and Pam, too
